If you’ve tried more than one mascara in your lifetime, you’ll know that not all mascaras are created equal. So what’s the best one out there? To be honest, I can’t tell you that. Like most beauty products, one size (or brush or formula) does not fit all because we all have different requirements when it comes to our lashes. For example my lovely lashes are are barely noticable without mascara. The bottom lashes are blonde and therefore invisible, and the top ones have blonde tips, making them look rather stumpy. So my ideal mascara is one that helps me fake the appearance of full, thick and long lashes.Continue reading
Advent calendars seem to be getting more and more creative each year. Personally I’m still a huge fan of the chocolate ones, but I thought I’d give my readers a countdown to Christmas this year that’s a little more useful (and calorie free)– 25 days of Beauty Tips!
So even though it’s a little bit late, here’s tip number one… Continue reading
It’s probably clear by now that I’m more than a little obsessed with beauty, but those of you who don’t know me might be surprised to find out that there is something else that I am equally obsessed with– technology. I am a huge tech geek! This is actually what inspired the name of the blog in the first place.
So what do you get when you mix beauty with technology? One very happy beauty geek. For the first installment of Beauty Tech (this is going to be a regular topic on the blog from now on) I’ve done a round-up of the most interesting beauty gadgets out there, some of which I’ve tried, and others which I haven’t…yet.
Beauty Gadgets Galore!
Clarisonic Plus ; I have a Clarisonic Mia and I absolutely love it. This is the deluxe version of what I have, complete with multiple speeds and interchangeable brush heads for your body and face. Source: Clarisonic.com
Infiniti by Conair® Tourmaline Ceramic™ Styler Dryer -It’s been a while, but I used to use this when I was younger and I loved it! The only problem was that I would wear mine out every few years and it’s not easy to find a replacement. Source: Conair.com
Conair CurlSecret - I haven’t tried this one yet, but there was quite a bit of hype surrounding it when it launched a few months ago. From what I’ve heard it works really well. I’m still scared of it though. Check out the videos on the Curl Secret website to see it in action. Source: Curlsecret.com
Pop Beauty Buzzing Beauty Buffer -I’m not sure how useful this one would actually be (unless you happen to be too lazy to move your hand in little circles) but I’m intrigued none-the-less. Source: Popbeauty.co.uk
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Steamer Solutions - Personally not something that I’m dying to have in my tiny apartment’s bathroom, but this might be just the thing for those of you who wish you could have regular facials at home in your pyjamas. Source: dgskincare.com
Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X - I saw these at an event last weekend and I was pretty intrigued by the concept. A monthly bikini wax is enough hair removal pain for me thank you very much, but the thought of never shaving my legs again (eventually) is very tempting. Source: Triabeauty.ca
Quo by Orly Smart Gels Lamp - I’ve been too much of a chicken to commit to proper gel nails, but gel addicts may find this little gadget useful for DIY manis. The lamp is small and portable, and uses LED light instead of UV. Source: Orlybeauty.com
Conair Double-Sided Illuminated Oval Mirror - Because realizing that you look like a clown once you’ve left the house is never fun. I’ve been wanting one of these for a while due to my uncanny talent for choosing apartments with bad lighting. In “Lauren’s Beauty Fantasy World” I would have one of these. Source: Amazon.com
INF Pentacurler - I fell in love with this multi-talented gadget after getting it as a Christmas present last year (thanks Mum!) It heats up very quickly to 392F/200C and creates beautiful curls. The interchangeable heads are great for achieving different looks. Also great if you spontaneously decide to cut off all of your hair one day–no need to buy a smaller curling iron!Source: beautysupplycanada.com
